Judgement Night

It was supposed to be a simple night out: four friends, a boxing match, and an RV ride into the city. Then they take one wrong exit, witness a murder, and spend the rest of the night being hunted through the streets of Chicago by Denis Leary and his crew.

On this episode of Second Chance Cinema, we’re heading back to 1993 for Judgment Night, the tense, grimy thriller starring Emilio Estevez, Cuba Gooding Jr., Stephen Dorff, Jeremy Piven, and Denis Leary.

We talk about the movie’s adventure premise, how it subverts ’90s masculinity, the cast, the soundtrack, how'd we fare, and whether the film still delivers more than three decades later.

Was Judgment Night an overlooked thriller that deserved better or is nostalgia doing most of the heavy lifting?

It’s time to give Judgment Night a second chance.
